2010 Race Resume and Results

My 2010 season was definitely a successful one and I was very pleased with my results. I started the season strong and dominated the Senior Women’s category of the BC cup, winning some races with times that would put me top 5 in the Pro Women’s category. Unfortunately I crashed big time off the rock drop in the Arduum course while doing my last training lap the day before the race. 12 stitches, 5 screws and one metal place later, I’m doing well and back on the bike raring to go.

I am excited to be racing in Pro Women’s next season and with the support of the crew and fellow race team members at CCN I’m looking forward to another successful season.

2011 Category

•Pro Women’s DH
•Intermediate Women’s XC
This will be my first season racing XC, more as a ‘just for fun’ thing, but as good cross training, a challenge and some variety for my DH season.

Training Regime:

I ride my bike(s) a lot. My fitness comes mainly from road biking and XC biking. I commute into work on my road bike approximately 35 km each day. I broke my front derailleur about 6 months ago and so I ride everywhere in the big ring. Vancouver is a hilly place so I sometimes enjoy the fact that I have to work hard to get anywhere, and sometimes it just makes me sweaty. It can’t be a bad thing thought that I spend a lot of time standing up and powering up hills. When I get home from work I change my shoes and throw some shorts on over my spandex and pedal my XC bike up Burnaby mountain which I live at the base of. I have a bike light this winter so I’m looking forward to keeping up my evening rides even after it starts getting dark at 5 pm. In the summer I ride 2-3 nights a week after work on local DH and XC trails. I spend most weekends pre-riding race courses, enjoying the local hills such as Vedder, Burke and the North Shore, or taking a break from shuttling and riding the bike park in Whistler. Despite spending 2 months off the bike with a broken wing this summer I still managed to make good use of my Whistler Bike Park Pass and spend over 20 days up there.

Outside of biking I cross train with the occasional yoga session, I play ice hockey and I snowboard whenever I get the chance. This winter I plan to continue to rehabilitate my shoulder from surgery and focus on my endurance and leg power with lots of road riding and XC climbing.
